immune to European diseases and were therefore killed because of them They caught Small Pox and various other diseases from blankets that Europeans gave to them as gifts The fact that many Native Americans died from the diseases was especially unhelpful because they were greatly outnumbered by the Europeans when it came to warfare and resistance and therefore could not put up much of a fight
