power to determine The Destiny of our Black Community We Want Full Employment for our People We Want an End to the Robbery We Want Decent Housing Fit for the Shelter of Human beings We Want Education for our People that Exposes We want Education that Teaches Us our True History and our Role in the Present Day Society We Want All Black Men to be Exempt from Military Service We Want an Immediate End to Police Brutality and Murder of Black People We Want Freedom for ALL Black Men We Want All Black People When Brought to Trial to be Tried in Court by a Jury of their Peer Group or People from their Black Communities We Want Land Bread Housing Education Clothing Justice and Peace A term coined by Stokely Carmichael that referred to Black Militancy Black skin a glorious symbol of national Organized extensively training for Sit Ins 1st Sit In 1960 Greensboro NC and became popular even in Tallahassee FL Served in WWII African America Civil Rights Activist from Mississippi that protested to end segregation at the University of Mississippi Field Secretary for the NAACP Assassinated in 1963 by Byron De La Beckwith a member of the White Citizens Council Black and White College Students ride bus together and supported the cause Bus was attacked by a large mob and eventually burned by a fire bomb that was thrown through the window on the bus Campaign attempted to register as many African Americans voters as possible in Mississippi which had historically excluded most blacks from voting Set up dozens of Freedom Schools Freedom Houses and community centers in small towns throughout Mississippi to aid the local African American population Organized by the Council of Federated Organizations COFO a coalition of the Mississippi branches of the four 4 major Civil Rights Organizations SNCC CORE NAACP and SCLC Very influential leader of the CRM promoting non violent protesting I have a Dream speech Little Rock Nine 1957 March on Washington 1965 James Meredith Montgomery Bus Boycott 1955 1956 Nation of Islam Rosa Parks Southern Christian Leadership Conference SCLC Student Non violent Coordinating Committee SNCC Assassinated in 1968 on a hotel balcony in Memphis TN Little Rock AR 9 African Americans that were hand picked to be the first to integrate an all white school after Brown v Board of Education ruling Enforced by President Eisenhower with the protection of the National Guard Called the Million Man March actually between 100 000 300 000 in attendance Great Speakers and Civil Rights Leader there was televised showing Unity MLK delivered famous I have a Dream Integrated Ole Miss in 1962 Organized March Against Fear in 1966 was shot by sniper but survived Started when Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus and was arrested African Americans refused to ride the buses Took a huge toll on Montgomery s profit from buses Most buses were empty Led to integrated buses Founded by Elijah Muhammad Malcolm X was a member and prominent leader Malcolm X encouraged blacks to join Started Montgomery Bus Boycott because of her squeaky clean record Refused to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus and was arrested Member of the NAACP Civil Rights Leaders used this to hide secret meetings under the radar of whites MLK prominent leader C K Steele from Tallahassee FL was a prominent leader Southern Christian Preachers and Reverends was started by Ella Baker and MLK Received a lot of support from people in the North Focused on Black Power Protested the Vietnam War Reverend C K Steele Tallahassee Bus Boycott Emmett Till 14 years old Voting Rights Act 1965 Malcolm X 1925 1965 Immigration The General Immigration Process From Visa to Green Card To Naturalization Apply for Visa Petition to Work in the
