Titanic was one of the biggest events at the time Ship going from Britain to America totally sunk They have a primitive kind of radio where it was sort of like a telegraph in the air The titanic called the shore got the news out that they struck the iceberg and help came on its way People in government both in Britain and U S thinking about this new technology of radio U S govt began to fear that somebody that was half british half italian controlled this and a lot of amateaurs who would block these radio waves transmissions So they think maybe we should control this thing maybe it should be controlled by americans Therefore Radio Act of 1912 came in and government began to allocate radio waves and frequencies to military and big business They begin to require license for radio They also marginalize radio amateurs as small boys David Sarnoff Worked for Marconi he was an unintended consequence He was a one who got the titanic signal was a technology operator He was also a big thing for himself He had a visionary memo and thought he could do something different with this technology He envisioned he could get the box that sat in your house with a beaker tuner and an amplifier and brought in music from the outside using radio waves He became one of the people who put together the first major radio company The Radio Cooperation of America RCA and had the entrepreneur vision to help develop commercial radio in ways we now think about it
