How Media Impact Society consequences me aware of o Do I like this film Does it seem perfectly normal to o Cognition what we know the information we are anti social consequences o There is a lot of discussion about do video games having a negative effect of the kids If you look at the top middle picture remember Tough Guise think about the depictions of masculinity what impact do they have on young boys o Guy in the lower middle who is addicted to the internet He is stressed out and doesn t really socialize anymore o Think about things leading to stuff that don t conform to social rules like Gossip Girl with its portrayal of very well off and very sexual active teenage girls and boys in high school They saw them outside of the general accepted rules and moral rules that most Americans live by It is also showing things that are unlawful or just objectionable to the majority of the people o If you look at Joe Camel at the right we are not supposed to push teenagers into smoking when you are not 18 yet it is illegal People have wondered about whether using a cartoon character it might be targeted to children o If they are in fact doing so should that be illegal Should that be something that we don t permit o Sometimes our study of things is psychological to see whether the ad impacted the children
