Out of somewhere Like the idea of sheep TV had been very carefully Sheparded or guided from its earliest technological beginnings to its flowering in the 50s as a powerful medium by the same people who had run radio What they potentially wanted was radio with pictures an even more powerful and visual medium The early history of TV is very bound up with radio using the same formats even literally the same shows and stars There were fewer arguments on TV for what should be there The people who were running TV knew what they wanted what had been successful on radio and make even more successful but it was more about how it ought to be organized and funded When we got to the 60s some people were unhappy with the way it was organized and funded Radio with pictures with pictures In some ways what we wanted precisely was radio Ex of really early radio with pictures RCA really had all the technology it needed early on in the 30s and 40s It had most of the radio patents and TV variations on that It started working in the early 30s to bring TV to market but it did worry the government for the same reasons the early RCA radio monopoly worried the government potential for monopoly
