Understanding Media Use Uses and Gratifications Social Learning o Interesting problem for most potential media makes How do you perceive the people you will work with different races and ethnicity o When you become more professional you have to envision an audience o Ex SETH ROGAN MOVIE a 20 ish guy movie aimed at white middle class guy Is it the same as young women 14 ish want to go to Probably not o People will like to address the whole population o Ex summer blockbuster Konfu panda 2 o Who on an individual level prefer to watch what o Why some guys prefer specific movies focus on the individual level o The more you can think about the anticipated desires of your audience what would be exciting for them what are their needs what are they thinking about o Social learning ex science fiction movie and someone didn t like it THOR o Think about your audience what would gratify them or in some case turn them off o Ex in Hollywood the re run or the sequel strategy Sometimes sequels to successful movies run out of gas 3 might not be as successful as 1 or 2
