This phantom will be used to test MRI techniques developed by the client for the imaging of fat in vivo. The phantom must contain samples of known physiologically relevant quantities of fat. The eventual purpose is quality control of MRI scanners that use fat-water contrast imaging. This week’s goals: - Prepare a list of materials to order - Determine the funding procedure - Begin working on the paperNext week’s goals: - Meet with Gary Frank to confirm our materials choices - Order the materials - If the materials arrive, begin making the phantom as well as fat fractions - Continue working on the paper - Find and order the safflower oil from Sigma Aldrich This week’s accomplishments: - Composed a list of materials that need to be ordered: o Acrylic for the water tank - 1 sheets: $57.03 o Silicone sealant - $8.09 o Glass vials - $3 x 25 vials: $75 o Honeycomb – UHMWPE – 4x6x6 inch bar – $43.75 - Total so far: $183.87 + shipping - Dr. Reeder approved the list of purchases and asked Catherine Gard to formalize the purchase through the department of radiology - Began compiling the paper Project Difficulties: - No significant difficulties this week Team Activities Date Time Members Activity 10/17/09 2.5 hours Matt Formatting the paper 10/19/09 1 hour Joe Buoyancy calculations 10/20/09 2 hours Nick and Joe Materials search 10/20/09 2 hours Matt and Bogdan Updating PDS 10/20/09 1 hour Nick Vials search 10/22/09 1 hour Bogdan Sealant searchProject Schedule Task September October November December 3 10 17 24 1 8 15 22 29 5 12 19 26 3 10 11 Project Development Research Brainstorm/Design Development Finalize Design Prototyping Deliverables Progress Reports Mid-semester Presentation (10/16) * Final Paper (12/11) * Final Poster (12/4) * Meetings Client Advisor Website Online * = deliverable due Expenses None, as
