Tubing Adapter Team: Kimberli Carlson – Team Leader Beom Kang Huh– BSAC Claire Wardrop– Communicator Tong Keun Lee – BWIG Week: March 5-March 11 Client: Christopher Green, MD Department of Pediatrics UW School of Medicine and Public Health Phone - 608.263.9608 Email – [email protected] Advisor: Chris Brace 1303 Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research 262-4151 [email protected] http://www.engr.wisc.edu/bme/faculty/brace_chris.html Problem Statement Our client, Christopher Green of American Family Children’s Hospital works with children and infants who have undergone tracheotomies. The current adaptor is designed for an adult, and is too big for children. On an adult, the adaptor takes up a portion on the upper chest, whereas on a child it covers the entire stomach. This is problematic since the adaptor is not pliable it is difficult for doctors and nurses to properly examine the patient. The new design needs to be better suited for a child’s size while measuring and maintaining the required air flow, pressure, and temperature of the air acquired by the patient.Last Week’s Goals - Research materials - Mid-semester report and presentation - Test - Pick materials to build prototype - Set up client meeting Accomplishments - Will build prototype with Shapelock thermoset plastic - Test will be set for week after spring break - Client meeting will be next week - Mid semester paper and presentation Next Week’s Goals - Drill holes in current model of adapter - Order materials to build prototype - Obtain 2 more shop passes - Set date and time to test - Meet with client - Work on building prototype Difficulties - Building prototype - Team Effort Team Member Accomplishments Time (Hrs) Running Total (Hrs) Kimberli Carlson Research materials Mid Semester Testing 4.0 12.5 Beom Kang Huh Research materials Mid Semester Testing 4.0 12.5 Claire Wardrop Research materials Mid Semester Testing 4.5 12.5 Tong Keun Lee Research materials Mid Semester Testing 4.0 12.5 Entire Team Met as a group 4.5 13Project Schedule TASK January February March April May DATES 22 29 5 12 19 26 5 12 19 26 2 9 16 23 30 7 WORK Brainstorming Research Designing Prototype Selecting Prototype Obtaining Materials Building Prototype Testing Prototype Modifications DELIVERABLES PDS Mid-Sem.
