Low Cost Digital Thermometer and ECG Contact Person Amit Nimunkar Dept. of Biomedical Engineering Phone: 698-7413, Email: [email protected] Team Colleen Farrell (Team Leader) Tasha Benkovich (BSAC) Deborah Yagow (BWIG) Hallie Kreitlow (Communicator) Week January 23 to January 29 2009 Problem Statement Developing countries are in need of a low cost ECG and digital thermometer to interface with innovative display technology. These devices should incorporate circuitry with a human sensory interface. Last Week’s Goals - Assign team roles - Exchange contact information - Conduct preliminary research on both projects - Set up meeting with Amit Nimunkar (contact person) Accomplishments - Began research on technology for digital thermometer - Used bioinstrumentation lab involving temperature measurement to learn about thermistor and infrared temperature sensors - Set up meeting with Amit for Thursday January 29 This Week’s Goals - Begin preliminary PDS - Meet with Amit - Attend supplementary electronics seminar - Continue research of temperature measurement to decide on what technology fits best with this projectActivities Date Activity Time (hrs) 1.23.09 Team: In class .5 1.26.09 Colleen: ECG research 1.0 1.27.09 Colleen: Instrumentation reading 0.75 1.28.09 Team: Instrumentation Lab Colleen and Deborah Tasha and Hallie Hallie: Sensor research 3.0 2.0 .5 1.29.09 Hallie: Sensor research Deborah: Individual research Tasha: Independent research 1.0 2.0 2.0 Total Time (hours cumulative) Colleen 5.25 Tasha 4.5 Deborah 5.5 Hallie 4.0 Tentative Project Timeline Week ending: January February March April May Task 23 30 6 13 20 27 6 13 20 27 3 10 17 24 1 Product Development Background Research Brainstorm Decision matrix Final Design Prototype Testing Deliverables (due) PDS
