Overview Homer s Casino Video Poker is a replication of a video poker game that is found in a real casino It is very easy to play and should be a lot of fun for the video poker enthusiast Since there is not a storyline to this type of game I thought it would be fun to use the popular television character of Homer Simpson as the casino host There will be a picture of Homer on the game and many of the sounds used in the game will be Homer himself It will be a single window interface design so there is not navigation involved Game Mechanics Overview Homer s Casino Video Poker is like a real video poker game in a casino only the player does not input money into the machine The player is given 100 00 when the game starts The player then places a bet of 5 00 by clicking the Bet button After the player places their bet they then click the Deal button Five cards are dealt and displayed on the screen The player looks over the cards and decides which ones to keep to try and get the best poker hand The player keeps a card by clicking on it The card then becomes held After the player decides which cards to keep they again click on the Deal button and new cards are dealt and replace the cards that were not held by the dealer The game determines what kind of hand the player has and pays out for valid poker hands The money is added to the player s total If a valid poker hand is not made the player receives nothing Valid poker hands and their payouts are as follows o Royal Flush 10 Jack Queen King Ace of the same suit Pays 5 000 00 This is the jackpot for this machine o Straight Flush a sequence of consecutive cards in the same suit Pays 250 00 o Four of a Kind Four cards of the same value Pays 125 00 o Full House Three cards of the same value and two cards of the same value Pays 40 00 o Flush Five cards of the same suit Pays 25 00 o Straight Five consecutive cards of any suit Pays 20 00 o Three of a Kind three cards of the same value Pays 15 00 o Two Pair Two different pairs of cards of the same value Pays 10 00 o Jacks or Better One pair of cards with the same value Must be greater than or equal to a jack Camera Position There is one camera position in this game It is from the player s perspective looking directly at the video poker machine user interface User Interface Design 1 The user interface for this game will be a single window that resembles a video poker machine It will have an area where the cards are displayed There will be a picture of the casino host on it as well as the name of the game and casino There will be a chart at the top to display the payouts for each hand There will also be some instructions that the user can follow to play The player s money balance and the last payout will be displayed on the interface The player will play the game using the mouse and clicking on buttons and cards Clicking on the cards will toggle them back and forth from being held or not being held There will be buttons to allow the player make bets and deal the cards Replaying and Saving At this time there are no plans to have any replays in the game It really doesn t make any sense for this type of game Saving each player and the amount of money they have will be implemented in a future version Control Summary There will be four controls the player can use to control game play o Bet button The player must click the Bet button and make a bet before they are allowed to play the game This button will be disabled after the player makes a bet so that they are not allowed to bet again until the hand is over o Deal Draw button This button allows the player to deal the cards after a bet has been placed and to draw more cards after they have held their cards from the first deal This button will be disabled until a bet is placed and after the hand is over o Card holders There will be five card holders on the game interface that will display the cards dealt to the player The user will be able to click on each card holder to toggle the
