Hist 105 3 18 19 War of 1812 sparked brief period of nationalism pride for their own nation People would ve identified more towards their state than as an American War of 1812 The forgotten war considered the second war of American Independence fought against Great Brittan Arose from problems of the Napoleonic Wars Robust economic trade with Europe could import manufactured goods if we maintained agrarian culture Thomas Jefferson But it would lead us to be entangled in European wars due to trade embargos Not only were there problems with trade there is also the problem of Impressment from England Taking people by force from American ships with the idea of desertion Peaceable Coercion fight against European Impressment and Trade embargo with their own Embargo against European trade Shut down all American Trade with the outside world It doesn t accomplish its objective in 1809 James Maddison Nonintercourse Policy reopened trade with everyone except France and England Nathans Bill 2 trade is reopened with France and England if Brittan or France responded with no more interference then they would suspend trade with the other side Doesn t work out so delectation of war against England and France Small Navy and Army military disaster lose most of the fights only battle won was after the War was ended with peaceful negotiations Military embarrassment burning of the White House Federalists are dissatisfied with Peaceable Coercion made to have a set guideline with what to do with the war of 1812 mostly Federalists with the 3 5 rule that a help Federalists against more population of Thomas Jefferson Break the Virginia Dynasty Most recent interpretation was about British subjecthood or American Citizenship
