Hist 1052/8/2019Popular Uprisings, crowd actions were efforts on the part of ordinary people to get the attention of gentlemen governors. Group of poor or ordinary people would get together disguise their identity and raise some hell. Many even men couldn’t vote, a crowd action was designed to give some forum to voicing their disagreements to gentlemen rulers. Asking for help, to fix a problem. 1764-1765 to register unhappiness increasingly become revolutionary, 1765 in response to stamp act essentially put end to the law/ stamp act before it even began, targeted stamp distributors. Form a constitutional argument, delegates from 9 of the 13 colonies gather in NY city to participate in the StampAct Congress. As English men they have rights, the right to be represented. Virtual Representation, parliament represented the Englishmen everywhere, most of the Englishmen back home didn’t vote but they were represented. Direct representation, if you don’t vote you’re not represented. Represented must think, act, and feel like those he is representing.
