Puritans were capable of perfection, and Roger pushed them to the point of absurdity. Roger Williams is a Separatist didn’t want non-puritans to be in Church. Wanted True Church, only church he was comfortable to be in was a Church of One himself. Puritans found his ideas alarming and threating, separation of church and state. Puritans banished Roger Williams to Rhode Island, then he decides that he’ll open a church that is open to everyone. Ann Hutchinson, 1864 John Cotton. Arrived with a reputation as a gifted midwife. Begins to invite members of the Church to have dinner and discuss the minister’s sermons. Arrives at the conclusion, most of the ministers were preaching false doctrine. Idea of conversion is really an acceptance of good works can earn your salvation. Salvation is a gift that no one earns, offered to the few and denied to the many. Free will is real and by doing the right thing you can earn your way to salvation and that is completely wrong. One of the few that was really among the chosen (the saved) holy spirit had come to live in her body. She could tell who was saved and who was dammed.
