From John Locke to John Adams to ordinary peoples right to regulate. “Show yourselves to be freemen reputing deference.” Pontiac and Neolin Great Lake Native Americans rally indigenous people against British rule – been abused by Europeans and Anglo Americans, right time to drive the Europeans back into the sea. Call for Indian people to return to their native ways, end dependence on European technology and goods. Pontiacs Rebellion – passed Act of 1773Comparative advantages and disadvantages of Great Britain and America. GB; larger population; 11 million – 48,000 soldiers and higher 30,000 German mercenary. Strongest and largest navy 139 navel fleet. Opening into the industrial age increasing economy. America 2.5 million 95% population lives in the country side. Professional soldiers oppress private citizens. Fight wars with volunteers. Wrongly based that citizen soldiers could fight it out. Military training and drinking ill trained. Have some equality of the British army. Short period service, when soldiers are only available for 3 months. Value their liberty and on discipline, soldiers only want to fight for one battle. Wouldn’t pursue enemy just plunder goods.Washington was generally left with soldiers who have been recruited from the lowest rung, to get a regular meal poorest and desperate men. Lexington and Concord, Bunker and Breeds Hill. Worst fight forBritish soldiers Guerrilla Warfare. Washington didn’t win the most but smart with tactics. American troops have begun to mutiny. They felt betrayed Valley Forge army is starving no food no clothing not paid in years. Army refuses to disband. At Newburgh came very close to a coupe de ta, Washington has left the army, comes back and pleas with his officers all the heroic sacrifice would be lost.
