These differences require that managerial practices and behaviors be modified to suit a particular culture. The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn how values and expected behaviors differ across national cultures. In addition, you should be able to clearly identify the practices, norms, and specific action strategies that should be used when working in a business setting in another culture. Scenario: You are part of a consulting group that advises US businesses on how to conduct business outside of the US border. You are to develop a program to assist US workers in their preparations for short- and long-term assignments working in one particular overseas country. Team Deliverables (120 points total)PROJECT PLAN & ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY (20 points): PROJECT PLAN You will develop a blueprint for the project, including writing a statement of purpose, identifying key deliverables, activities, timelines, and accountability (including peer evaluation criteria & weighting). (DATA, as discussed in class) ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY  As a team, conduct significant research and find as much information as you can about your country. With the Handbook, turn in an annotated bibliography for 15 (or more) different sources. This bibliography includes the full citation and a summary of the information found in the source.  To find the rules for citing, visit the website http://www.plagiarism.org/research_site/e_what_is_plagiarism.html. Read “what is plagiarism?” and “types of plagiarism”. Write (do not cut & paste!) a ½ -1 page summary & interpretation. HANDBOOK: First, this is a RESEARCH PROJECT focused on BUSINESS. You will summarize and present your research incolorful & informative handbook (max of 12 sheets of paper). This is a research project that should meet the objective described above, and should be specific, descriptive, action-oriented, focused, well-written, grammatically correct, well-organized and well-integrated. Your project must also meet the content requirements listed below. You are to write all of the text in your handbook, summarizing and integrating the material you find from your research. You should not cut & paste tables, lists, bullet points, etc. or other significant chunks of material from websites. 70 pointsPRESENTATION: A 10-12 minute verbal report summarizing your findings and recommendations. This should simulate a presentation you would make to the group of prospective overseas employees prior to their transfer. Note: the presentation should not be a walk-through of your handbook; work hard to make it interesting, lively, and informative. 30 pointsHandbook Overview & Content RequirementsYour handbook should be divided into several sections that provide structure: Briefly overview relevant background information about the country (such as demographics, government, imports, weather, general social customs, exchange rates, etc.). This is not a vacation guide: focus on business.o Only include information that you feel is important to know for doing business in this country. o Remember that the company has already determined to do business there, so you don’t have to talk about the size of markets, etc.; instead, focus on the interpersonal elements that you would want to know personallyif you were an expatriate on your way to that country.o Conclude this section with a statement highlighting differences between the country you have chosen and the United States, highlighting the 9 GLOBE dimensions, time orientation (monochronic or polychronic), etc.  The other sections are more important, and should focus on specific action strategies that expatriates should employ for interacting with business people in the host country. o Identify at least 3 major issues that are critical for success in your country (e.g., leadership, decision making, negotiations, gender differences, meeting management, etc.). o Summarize the similarities/differences between your country and US business practices in these 3 (or more) areas.o Make sure to highlight business and managerial practices and social customs that are important to understand to avoid offending your hosts in this country. o Make decisions and recommendations. Be sure to provide support for your decisions and recommendations through citations and give appropriate credit to the sources you use.Notes on Grading Criteria An “A” handbook …o Is a cohesive product (not just parts cut and pasted together, no inconsistencies between parts) that integrates (combines, mixes) information from many different sources into one papero Uses headings to provide structure and direction to the readero Is well-organized and factually correct, based on solid research from reliable sources that are well-documentedo Has a professional appearance and has been proofread to ensure no grammatical or typographical errorso Uses at least 15 different published sources and visibly demonstrates that you have integrated them throughout your handbook using appropriate citations (use APA, MLA, or endnotes). Providing 15 or more sources does not guarantee an A: it is a necessary but not sufficient condition. Do you make recommendations? Are they specific and descriptive? Are they supported with facts? Is the text well written? Are your thoughts clearly expressed? Does the handbook have an easy-to-follow structure? Are there spelling or grammatical errors (syllabus says 10% deduction for five or more errors)? Are the text & sources integrated, or is each section a summary of a single source? Are the parts consistent? Did you use citations for your source material (a minimum number of citations to receive an "A" is 15)? Make sure you track where your quotations, etc. came from. Have you “cut and pasted” material from another source? If so, is it properly documented?o Note: Any material that is taken directly from a source (i.e., cut & pasted) must have quotation marks or be clearly identified as a direct quote. If you have
