Magna Carta (1215) - the King John determined what his vassals will do. By 1215, his Barens believed he did not take responsibility, so they drew up a document to obligate him to doing things. John signs it but he does not actually intend to do any of it. Magna Carta is important because of how it is perceived- the Englishmen see it as the first time an English King was able to see limitations on himself. 2. Petition of Right (1628) - the King cannot require any taxes without Parliaments consent. Also, the King could not throw anyone into jail without a specific charge.3.Habeas Corpus Act (1679) - another attempt to reign in the power of the Monarch4. English Bill of Rights (1689) - signed by William and Mary5. The Common Law - it changed the English legal
