Progress Report March 16, 2007 – March 23, 2007 Team: Interpenetrating networks for delivery systems Team Members: Ashley Huth- Team Leader Claire Flanagan- Communicator Jon Sass- BSAC Adam Rieves- BWIG Client: Professor John Kao UW School of Pharmacy & Department of Biomedical Engineering 7123 Rennebohm Hall Phone: 263-2998 Email: [email protected] Problem Statement: Interpenetrating networks are a type of biomaterials that polymerize in situ and have been used in drug delivery, wound healing, and tissue engineering applications. This design project involves the development of novel delivery mechanisms that should be clinically easy to use with improved storage life. Summary of Accomplishments • Contacted Wolfe Tory Medical in regards to purchasing or obtaining a sample of their atomizer connector to a standard syringe (Part # MAD300). • Rethought final design decision. • Brainstormed other possible approaches that would be simpler and more user friendly, along with a design that incorporates parts that are commercially available. • Looked into one-way values for new design idea. This Week’s Goals • Talk to Professor Chesler about the feasibility of our new design. • Solidify design idea. • Research materials or commercially available parts to fabricate our design • Order syringe connector and other parts for our design. • Try different protocols for creating cold water soluble gelatin • Begin modifying syringe. • Set up meeting to discuss new design idea with Professor Kao.ActivitiesTeam Member Activity Time Running TotalClaireTeam meeting Tuesday, individual work on design and research of materials, team meeting Monday5 hours 37 hoursAshleyTeam meeting Tuesday, individual work on design and research of materials, progress report5 hours 35 hoursJonTeam meeting Monday, team meeting Tuesday, individual work on designs and research of materials, BSAC meeting5 hours 33 hoursAdamTeam meeting Monday, team meeting Tuesday, individual work on designs and research of materials, updated website5 hours 37.5 hours26 hours 142.5 hoursTeam Total Project Timeline 2 9 16 23 2 9 16 23 30 6 13 20 27 4 11 18DesignDesign BrainstormingO O OPreliminary Design OFriday Team Meeting O O O O O O OResearch O O O O O O ODeliverablesProgress Report▲ ▲ ▲ ▲ ▲ ▲ ▲PDSO OMid Semester PaperO OMid Semester PresentationO O OEnd Semester PresentationEnd Semester PaperMeetingsClient O O OAdvisor O O O O O O OOtherWebsite X X X X X XBSAC♦ ♦ ♦ ♦AllAdamAshleyClaireJon■♦X▲Done GoalOMayTaskFebruary March AprilExpenses Product # Supplier PriceTotal
