India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel are the only states not members of NPT. Realists argue that NPT doesn’t work and does not guarantee security. See it is an argument that can be broken. Ex- Iran is in non-compliance.No prevention techniques only punishment in terms of sanctions which damages reputation. Liberals think NPT works because it does exactly what is designed to do. Complex interdependence- states are connected to many different states on various levels. Ex- security, trade, environment, transportation, education, technology.Great Depression- example of complex interdependence being a bad thing economically. Complex interdependence makes states vulnerable, entangles alliances.Ex- WWI immediate issue was between Austria and Serbia. Alliances brought other powers.
