DateCollaborative Strategy Scenario Name: Elephant Group Sandra Napp Ramona Johnson Peter DePaola Strategy: Frame Type I Content: Holidays Title: Holidays of the World Required Time: One half our per day for five days Target Audience: A dozen or more upper elementary students Goal of Activity: To recognize world holidays and the diverse types of people who celebrate them. Purpose of Script: To introduce frame type I as an organizer Learning Outcomes: Gagne’s Taxonomy- Verbal Information & Cognitive Strategies Bloom’s Taxonomy- Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, and Synthesis Learning Characteristics: Elementary Students Entry Skills: Basic computer knowledge and Internet skills Setting: Computer Lab Media: Internet Access along with enough computers for the students to either have their own or to pair up. Also, a chalkboard with chalk. Process: 1.) The teacher will introduce a frame type I to the students and pass out copies of a blank frame 2.) The teacher and students will brainstorm a variety of holidays celebrated around the world and write them down on chalk board3.) From there, the teacher will ask students for dates of these holidays. If this is not possible then the class as a whole will research it. Once dates are found, then the origin and denomination are researched 4.) The teacher will have a blank frame made out on the board which is identical to the frame example given to the students 5.) The teacher and students will fill out the forms together as a class. What the teacher is putting on the board is what the students should be copying into their own frames at their seats 6.) The students will work in pairs or individually (as they wish) 7.) When this project is complete, the teacher and students will discuss holidays they have shared that have been different then there own. Strategy Assessment: Students will be graded based on their completed frame type I Date Origin Denomination Kindergarten Day Multiple Personalities Day Rubber Eraser Day Public Sleeping Day *These are just examples. Other holidays can be used of choice Reference:
