Rorschach Ink Blot Test- Hermann Rorshach (Swiss Psychiatrist) (Pg. 118 in book)- 10 inkblot cards- Assessor gives minimal information- person gives their interpretation- Percepts NOT matching percepts means unrealistic or bizarre behaviors- Persons interpret animals or humans, conflict vs. sharing, affectionvs. hostility- Symbolic interpretation: explosion= hostility, pig= gluttony, fox= crafty, spiders, witches, octopuses= negative domineering mothers, gorillas and giants= negative domineering father, ostrich= fear of conflict- Behaviors: guidance= dependency, subtleness= suspicious or paranoid2. Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)- Cards with scenes 1 or 2 people- person tells the story of the scene, what each person is saying, what led up and the outcome- Defenses are bypassed when the person is telling the “story”- Common interpretive themes: disappointment with a parent, parental pressure, sad thoughts about the past- Assesses implicit an explicit thoughts* Projective tests should not be a part of the current psychological testing*D.
