Who is taking the drug? What age are they? Teens? Adults?2) What? What are they taking? Illicit? Over the counter?3) When and Where? E.g. culturally, we do not drink alcohol on a week day during our lunch break. If you do, there might be a problem.4) Why? INSTRUMENTAL vs RECREATIONAL. Instrumental -meaning socially approved, goal in mind. Recreational -just to experience a “high” (psychoactive properties).5) How is it Taken? Not usually among most important/influential points. For example if taken in IV it doesn’t always mean it’s bad (sedative).6) How Much? B. Definitions: 1) PSYCHOACTIVE: Drugs that affect feelings, thoughts, perceptions, or behavior.2) ILLICIT: Manufacture, sale, or possession is ILLEGAL3) LICIT: Manufacture, sale or possession LEGAL4) INSTRUMENTAL: Motivation for drug use for specific reason other than getting “high”5) RECREATIONAL: Motivation for drug use is only to get “high”/ some pleasurable effect.C. Patterns of Drug use:These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. According to survey drug use in general going down BUT marijuana use going up and is therefor bringing up overall drug use
