Due Week 3 Day 6 Legal and ethical issues can arise in any organization How might these issues be different What sort of relationship exists between the two Provide an example of each from current events What might the organizations involved have done differently to prevent these legal and ethical issues Your answer should be between 100 150 words Legal and ethical issues can be different for the simple fact that not all ethical issues are illegal For instance a supervisor at work who chooses to date one of his direct reports is not breaking the the law but can be viewed as unethical For the most part I think we associate following the rules and laws as being ethical but there are these situations were its unethical to conduct ones actions in a certain manner that is not illegal to do so Many organizations have their own internal policies that prevent coworkers from being romantically involved or dating and have to disclose that they are dating Often in this circumstance one of the parties may have to transfer to another area division or new job all together Another issue may be working for a organization and being responsible for selecting or choosing a vendor or contractor to perform the best and most cost effective service for your organization and you base your decision on a company that has a friend relative or loved one who works for or runs the operation you choose This may not be illegal but can be viewed as unethical Response 2 The difference between a legal issue and an ethical issue is that a legal issue deals with what the law says and an ethical issue deals with what society says regardless of whether it is right or wrong One scenario that comes to mind is the Bill Clinton sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky What the President did behind the closed doors of the White House was not wrong legally but it was wrong ethically and morally Besides the fact that Bill Clinton was married and engaging in extra marital activity which is unethical and immoral itself he used the power and prestige of his office for his own benefit at least once that the public became aware of While this conduct did not break any laws it opened the door for public scrutiny and questions of his credibility As American citizens and voters we should expect this office to conduct itself in the highest regard and behavior legally and ethically
