Due Week 4 Day 6 Not all organizations have moved to develop socially responsible initiatives Others may have a socially responsible effort but it may not be a fit for the organization What might make some initiatives more appropriate for an organization than others might What might make an initiative not an appropriate choice Cite specific examples Your answer should be between 100 150 words An organization should adopt an initiative that fits in one of two ways it either goes along with their corporate culture and strategy or it combats something that the organization does to hurt the Earth What they should not do is start an initiative that is in direct conflict with their business model A company that sells tobacco should not try to help people quit using tobacco unless mandated by the government A company that produces paper from raw materials and has no way to recycle paper products should not start a major campaign for paper recycling in the community A company that may have some run off into a nearby water source should start an initiative to clean the water source I believe a company should always have at least 1 initiative this shows the community that the company cares about their consumers and the earth I also believe that there are 2 fairly basic concepts a company should review when choosing to implement a new initiative 1 What is the surrounding communities need 2 Does the company have the time and resources to accomplish this imitative Response 2 A good initiative to start with is going green The earth could always use a little saving I choose this initiative because it is one that doesn t require a substantial investment to start implementing For example take a cell phone company The company could start the initiative with recycling batteries or offering customers the ability to go paperless The company could then eventually progress to solar power initiatives and energy efficient buildings This is a way that the company could at least start and not have to invest a huge startup cost
