Due Week 2 Day 5 Provide an example of a socially responsible effort within your community In what ways does this influence the community How do these efforts affect the individuals within the community Your answer should be between 100 150 words The local YMCA is an example of a socially responsible effort within my community as it is a foundation designed to teach and help others benefit not only themselves but also society Through its donations both private and public along with its many volunteers the YMCA provides a positive influence on various communities through its many programs The Y is a cause driven organization that is for youth development for healthy living and for social responsibility Our Focus para 1 Youth programs are designed to build strong values and positive behaviors that will provide a foundation for making smarter choices in life as each grows older The YMCA also provides these individuals the opportunity to learn how to balance life in general and apply these skills within his or her communities YMCA of the USA 2011 The YMCA Retrieved August 30 2011 from http www ymca net our focus Reference Response 2 A couple of months ago my community adopted a practice that our local Air force base has in place We have made a commitment to conserve water The 1st way we do this is by planting desert drought tolerant plants only in our yards The 2nd way we accomplish this task is by alternating which days we water these plants in our yards For example I only water my plants on even days In Arizona water comes at a premium because we may get 10 inches a year that s less than an inch a month Comparatively speaking to other places that is not very much rain In my hometown of Shreveport La we normally get over 50 inches a year So water conservation is so important where I live My neighbors and I are taking the steps to help the environment by conserving water
