The importance of the issues located in the film is explained The role of external social pressures occurred on Greyston Bakery show how social pressures effects the organizational ethics Three reasons why the issues are relevant to the organization and personal decisions is given as well The relationship between legal and ethical issues located in the film is produced along with explanation of how domains can conflict and possible solutions to end the conflict The short film is about Greyston Bakery in which shows how the bakery supports the community The bakery gives back to the community from profits of the bakery goods sold Liberty Mutual 2010 The biggest item sold is the brownie they have that is used in the social enterprise in direction to reach social and profit mission Liberty Mutual 2010 The biggest issues in the film is open hiring and community development Open hiring allows the business to hire people within the community to provide a opportunity to allow people employment regardless of past history Liberty Mutual 2010 Community development is developed by using profits from sales of goods to Graceland Foundation Liberty Mutual 2010 Graceland Foundation supports community programs such as housing healthcare and childcare Liberty Mutual 2010 The issues in the film are important The issues of open hiring allows a community to prosper With open hiring everyone has the opportunity to gain experience with a company that is trying to provide the community of the blessings they have already received This allows employment rates to lower and those whom have a trouble past to get back on their feet and support their family Community programs are important because it supports the community in which it resides Having healthcare available provides a healthier community in which allows not only the bakery to prosper but other businesses as well because people will be able to be in the workforce longer Having childcare provided allows the moms and dads support while trying to meet the family needs Housing gives those in need of low cost shelter a place to live and gain quality of life Overall Greyston Bakery is making The Responsibility Project 3 the world a better place as being a role model for other business to help communities be successful The issues provided are relevant in which how the organizational and personal decisions are made Organizational and personal decisions are made to make a change in the existing conditions as the bakery First the organizational decisions may use the time of the organization and individual resources to make a decision to go in whatever directions offers the best outcome The use of the time reflects directly on the profits margins to be able to support programs Thus the company will have to make sure time used will not reflect support of the community programs Second the issues are effected when decision are made because there is always a risk The risk can can be either a positive or negative effect on open hiring process and support of community programs The risks are not intentional in away but could take away the business serving the community and turn it the opposite direction Third the issues reflect on making limited change because it could change the mission of using business for good not evil Limiting the amount of change can change the bakery from not making any significant success on a business level but only support open hiring and community programs In return the relationship with the community will always be supportive but could cause the business the lack of ability to grow and prosper External social pressures have an influence on organizational ethics The external social pressures is the community and the government The pressures of the community come from the behavior of the employees of the company Because of the wide range of programs supported through Greyston Bakery there is a sense of an individual behavior should be The behavior of employee reflects the ability to gain support of other programs in the aide to finance programs The government regulates the organizational by rules and relations such as taxes and environmental hazards The bakery must pay taxes but not excess so profit is large to keep supporting community Certain environmental concerns creates the way products are made The external social pressures play role of governing the organization in a direction that is monitor by external social pressures With the influence the bakery The Responsibility Project 4 will have to make sure that they abide by all rules so they can keep helping the community The relationship between legal and ethical issues are shown in the film Legal issues are issues in which have a legal consequence of an action The legal issues are wrong and the bakery can have severe consequences if legal issues are not abide by including loss of business Ethical issues are issues that are wrong but not punishable by law Although ethical issues are not punishable by law they have consequences in which can hurt the business just as much as a legal issue The social mission and profit mission of the organization changes the company s bottom line which in return can have legal and ethical issues faced To work through the conflict of legal and ethical issues the company must have a board of advisers that aide in choosing the best choice Just because an issue is legal does not mean it is ethical and visa versa The bakery will need to develop terms and conditions in which assure the business abides by to avoid conflict If the company finds themselves in conflict the choice made will have to be reflected on outcome that suits business and community In summary a short film was viewed on the Responsibility Project website The short film chosen was named Greyston Bakery With the content in the film two of the biggest issues were chosen The two big issues chosen was open hiring and community programs The two issues acknowledge the importance of the issue The issues gave explanation of the relevance between organization and personal decisions Three reasons were given
