Due Week 5 Day 6 What new ethical and social responsibility issues might present themselves when moving from a domestic only organization to one that now reaches a global arena Why are they different Your answer should be between 100 150 words Because different cultures hold different ethical views some things that are okay overseas aren t here and visa versa For example child labour is often a necessary practice in other countries If the kids don t work the family suffers This causes a conflict with our own ethical beliefs against child labour On the other side women are able to hold positions of power in the US whereas this is not allowed in many countries It can be difficult to put a company s code of conduct into effect with workers who have different morals and ethical tenets Add to basic differences the need to work for the welfare of one s shareholders vs the need to behave ethically There is a basic battle in regard to paying fair wages and having safe working conditions These considerations are expensive and cut back shareholder profits and yet are ethically right Response 2 When an organization moves from domestic only to a global arena they will need to review their involvement with social responsibility issues to ensure they are globally aligned Social responsibility is defined by the community in which you do business All communities have issues that are unique to them As an organization expands it needs to broaden their involvement from very specific neighborhood or town to kinda specific city or county to specific state or region to kinda broad country to very broad global An organization needs to broaden it s scope so that it remains relevant in all of the geographic areas it conducts business
