Due Week 2 Day 6 According to Ch 2 of Basic Ethics It is inconsistent on one hand to accept the assistance of the community via schools police fire roads and on the other hand to deny to a reciprocal duty to give back to the community Boylan What are some ways the community asks its members to give back Does each individual have the same responsibilities Explain why or why not Your answer should be between 100 150 words Some of the ways my community asks me to give back include Following the laws codes and ordinances that are set forth to keep the community a clean safe and pleasant place to live In addition to following the rules there are many community programs and services that need assistance and donations to continue to help and support the community and its residents Often times these are in the form of community events that member s of the community can participate in where the proceeds go to local community programs Our community police also require those with alarms on their homes to register them so the police have a record of who lives or owns the property in the event of an emergency the police have more information to go on which helps them do their jobs more efficiently The community also benefits from those that help cleanup and maintain liter and blight on their streets neighborhoods and properties because it alleviates city staff from having to enforce and cleanup which takes workers away from other community needs and cleanup efforts I m sure there are so many other areas where our communities need our assistance and it is each of our responsibilities to assist in our communities and to help make them a better safer place to live for our younger generations to grow up in and learn from our actions Response 2 One way a community asks its members to give back is through donations Oftentimes communities will choose certain times of the year where individuals can drop off food or clothing to be donated to other individuals families or local shelters in need of assistance The small community where I grew up used to collect donations of both food and toys through its local churches around Christmas time Those families who were in need of assistance would register their names through the town hall which would divide these names amongst all the churches within the community These separate congregations in addition to collecting items would also donate time to provide a home cooked holiday meal for these families Everyone seemed to gather at these events regardless of what they had going on to show their support for others within the community whether in need of assistance or not
