pollution meteorology and global climate change Integrates the critical concepts of chemistry physics and geology in the context of the Earth as a system Textbooks Earth Science 11th Ed by Edward J Tarbuck and Frederick K Lutgens 2006 Prentice Hall Pearson Education New Jersey ISBN 0 13 149751 0 You may use an older edition of the textbook but you must determine the reading material from the topics listed in this syllabus You must answer the review questions from the 11th edition which may or may not be the same as those shown in an older edition The 11th edition is on reserve in lecture slides answers to in class activities midterm key etc for your use Grading Points Letter Grade A 100 90 500 450 B 89 80 449 400 C 79 70 399 350 D 69 60 349 300 F less than 60 299 000 Plus and Minus Grades may be given at discretion of instructor ES 106 Earth System Science III SYLLABUS Assessments A Laboratory Grade will be reported by your lab instructor as a percent Your laboratory grade will be included at a weight of 25 of your overall grade with your lecture grade A passing grade 60 must be obtained to receive credit in ES 106 There are two midterm exam scheduled Bring a scantron form and expect to also complete problems similar to in class activities and homework assignments If you know ahead of time that you will not be in class for the mid term exam contact me ahead of time to make an arrangement If you miss an exam without prior notice please have some written evidence of your emergency situation or use the proper University channels to communicate I am understanding but need verification of each case There will be at least 12 in class activities for points in this class and review questions for homework The in class activities must be done IN CLASS to receive points The highest ten will count for your grade so if you miss a few it will not affect your grade These are worth 5 points each for a total of 50 points toward your lecture grade Review Questions are due on April 28 May 26 and June 9 They must be turned in ONTIME to receive full points Please purchase a LARGE Blue Book to do those review questions as assigned on the schedule Do the questions each week and turn in at the midterms and before the final exam Use complete sentences detailed outline format or reference so answers have meaning without the textbook or you will not receive full credit on the review questions I will be happy to discuss the answers to review questions any day before lecture begins Review question sets one and two are worth 20 points toward your lecture grade
