Here a battle erupts as both sides fight in an effort to control the area. This is a two player game, one person will command the German forces, the other willplay as the Russians. Gameplay will occur on a hexogonal map using two dimensional graphics. The mouse will be the principle input device. Simple battle animations and sound effects will support the visuals. Background music will consist of a rousing battle song or two to set the correct mood. C++ code will be written to run a Direct X executable using the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 programming environment. Microsoft Paint will be relied upon to create graphics for the game. Once coding is complete, alpha and beta testing will be conductedto balance the game and eliminate bugs.1.0 Product Specification1.1 Production Team DescriptionEric Nelson will comprise the entire team. He will be responsible for design, code, art, and testing management. A team of beta testers will be recruited for refinement of thefinal versions of the game.1.2 Target AudienceThe intended audience for this game is the strategy gamer crowd. Other targets include World War II and war game fans.1.3 Game PlayThis game will use two dimensional graphics for all views, maps, and components. Game play will take place on a map utilizing a hexagonal grid overlay to make up the spaces. This game is designed to be played by two people, taking turns at the same computer. One player will control the Germans, the other will command the Russians. Play will be turn based, and the player will choose when to end their turn. The scenario will last 10 turn cycles, allowing each player to take 10 turns. Victory and command points will be awarded for each enemy unit destroyed, and for holding the key locations each turn. Key strategic points on the map will have a special colored outline, these hexes are thescenario objectives. Playing pieces will be tiles, each unit type having a different graphic. Each of these troop types have their own attack and defensive values. Once a unit is selected, the player can attack, move, resupply, reinforce, or deselect it. A unit may be selected and deselected an infinant number of times, providing no other actions are chosen. Attacking, resupplying, reinforcing, and artillery unit movement eachend the unit’s turn. Using all the unit’s movement points will also end its turn. A unit may move and attack, providing it still has at least 1 movement point. Resupplying a unitwill refill it’s gas and ammo, costing 20 command points. Reinforcing a unit will add to its combat strentgh, at a cost of 10 command points per strength point. Selecting this option will either refil the strength to 10, or fill the strength for as many command points the player can afford. Attacking will pit the attack and defense values of units against oneanother, resulting in damage or destruction to both.Victory Points (VP) count towards the final score at the end of the game. These are gained at the same rate as Command Points (CP). 10 points are awarded for infantry destruction, 15 for tank, 12 for artillery.
