On a warm, sunny day very likely, he was in the UltraSpace that hemanifest (it’s akin regular space, but distinctly more awesome) He was relaxing after a week of engaging in battle with all the other people with both a ‘Q’ and an ‘X’ in their last name for dominance of a universe. This was no ordinary battle because it was, from every conceivable aspect, an ordinary battle. In any case, he was just about to sit down for the newest episode of “Extreme Decrepit Industrial Complex Makeover +4 with Paul Harvey and Special Guests KISS!” when……the power went out! Mr. Quixote was FURIOUS, furious like the sun or a stampede of wildebeest (wildebeest would take the sun any day)! He attempted to contain his rage using ancient techniques, but ancient techniques were not powerful enough to contain his modern fury. His ire lashed out, like a lash and struck randomly with existence-erasing power. Minivans, slotted spoons (except in sterling), Crisco and/or simulated butter, velociraptor robots andDick Cheney’s presidential ambition (Carl Rove as a lash? Does this political humor work, or is it trite. What else could be good? I had the color maroon here earlier…but it just wasn’t doing it for me any more, sort of like titles 1-5 (6-16 are up top))? all fell to his wrath! People who had invested in minivans were quite angry, as could be expected. Given Mr. Quixote near-all-powerfulness, they expected to be reimbursed or to have their lack of a vehicle made up to them in some way. Don, on the other hand, was still quite tired from crafting UltraSpace and was not in the condition to create tens of millions of new vehicles. With things looking bleak, he packed up a flying sleeping bag (it can fly!) and acase of lemons and oranges (they are his favorite food) and headed deep into UltraSpace…Suddenly, there was a new world…but mostly flat (to start at least). Then there was an orange. Then, shortly after that there was a lemon. Someone or something decided that conflict should ensue. So it did…Gameplay:The player will be presented with a 3rd- person view of their fruit and nearby surroundings. Current status (whatever that might include) will be displayed in a corner, which corner has yet to be decided. Status may consist of some sort of display, win/loss record and anything else I may or may not (?) come up with in the interim. The goal of the game is simple, (collide with/push off the map) your opponent. Like bumper cars, but in the hills of Ireland (or mountains)? The game will present the player with a birds-eye view of their player and the surrounding surroundings which will be modeled by a three-dimensional landscape.Appearance (projected and w/o textures or real character models):Above is an image of what the game might sort of look like, except with actual orange and lemon-looking character instead of word art that is too round (see the goofy looking thing that is supposed to be a lemon, doesn’t look much like a lemon to me, but it will do for now.)Development Specification:The game must provide users the following options upon execution:- Play – Start a new game or join one in progress- Options – Change video mode or control settings, nothing relating to game setup goes here.- Quit – Exit the gameFrom inside the “Play” menu, the following options will be available:- Create – Set up a new game and create it. Move to a new screen where you wait for players to join where you have the option to just start the game w/o anyone.- Join – Join a game in progress by entering the IP address.- Back – Return to the main menu. From the Options menu:- Videoo Screen resolution – Change screen resolution. combo boxo Full screen – switch between windowed and full screen mode. toggleo Color Depth – Change color depth based on what is available to your system. Combo boxo Hardware vertex processing – use video hardware to do vertex processing.toggleo Full scene antialiasing – change the number of FSAA passes or turn feature off. Combo boxo Shadows – turn on or off shadows. Toggle.o Shaders – set amount of shaders to use, off = off, low = just bump/specularmapping, high = anything else shiny I can find (soft shadows, HDR?), toon = who doesn’t love toon shading?- Controlso Offer a way to change what controls are used for whato Choose between mouse and keyboard and gamepad.- Soundo Sound – yes or no. toggleo Sound volumeo Music – yes or no. toggleo Music volume- Accept – Accept/commit these changes and go back to the main menu- Back – Decline changes and go back to main menuSome other technical info.-Camera moves on a sphere centered around the player.-Player will not be able to move camera below the playing surface, camera will position itself a little bit above the ground if such is attempted.-Ideal range for zooming would be to range from the player being about 1/10 of the screen width to about 1/3 of the screen width, this may change when seen.Primary controls will consist of a mouse and keyboard together. The mouse will be used to pan the camera around the character and the keyboard will be used to initiate movement. Any special actions that can be performed will be executed through the use of mouse buttons. If available, a gamepad may be used as controls. The preliminary control setup will be as follows:Mouse movement = camera panScroll wheel movement = zoom in/out cameraRight mouse button click = initiate special actionThe game will default to using both the arrow keys and the WASD keys.Up / W key = roll forward in direction camera
