December 5 2008 Stanford University CEE 215 Current State Narrative Final Project ConXtech 10x10x10 Luis Ignacio Galdo Daniel Payne Carlos Izquierdo Describe the design process using the narrative you built The current state narrative describes fundamentally the decision making process for different projects that ConXtech intends to pursue The narrative aims to show how ConXtech currently executes projects The current state first describes what we call the Country Level narrative Here we display that ConXtech is pursuing different projects in different geographical locations For educational purposes we decided to represent three countries with significant cultural difference This was meant to underline the differences in the processes between projects in different locations On our case we show Venezuela United States and Sweden Our intention was at first to describe the decision making process in these particular locations but due to time constraints we concentrated on Venezuela since two of the group members have construction experience on construction projects in this particular location and we made use of readily available information Embedded within the main narrative in each geographical location there will be a sub narrative As mentioned before they each will describe the process behind each construction project In our case the decision making process in a mid rise residential building in Venezuela is represented The narrative shows a somewhat linear process to the construction of the project Particular to this location is the partnership that is formed by the land proprietor and the owner and the introduction of financiers In this case we decided that the design team hired by the owner or at least contemplated is ConXtech Additionally it shows when and how the gatekeepers come in to review the project and eventually approve it Regarding the design the narrative represents feedback between the owner and the design team has to happen in order to materialize the conceptual design Finally the process will lead to the construction of the project Critique the design process using the narrative you built Firstly the current state narrative describes our assumption that ConXtech is largely eager to participate in every project regardless of the geographical location and the many difficulties this brings We believe essentially that the current state process of ConXtech could potentially evolve into a process where a formal decision making process would radically affect operations and eventually their desired outcomes as well A decision making tool like MACDADI will help the company better adapt to different projects in different locations with their respective characteristics We believe that ConXtech s current approach is too unsophisticated to meet their desire to implement 10 10 10 on a global scale Particularly they are not leveraging the strengths of their system which are industrial manufacturing process and high quality control Describe the methods you used to build the narrative and where more information is needed This was throughout the course the main issue in addressing ConXtech 10 1010 There actually does not exist a project constructed under this notion We found that MACDADI is project oriented and its application is problematic for a process like 10 10 10 s application The current state narrative was based on previous work experience of some our members in Venezuela and additionally research on the steps taken to execute residential projects in this location
