As parents teach kids to stand up to bullies Bullies are COWARDS She kicked the kids that picked on her they never picked on her again Video Fan Violence NFL Fan Fights HD a situation has evolved where now professors are studying fan violence or crowd psychology Why do people do this What are things that have gone on in the past Its not what happens in sport solely it s a reflection of what is happening in society today Happens in a lot of other arenas o Thousands of teachers are assaulted in their class o kids killing kids in school o loss of respect for human life o lots of cheating Why do people behave the way the do in a sporting environment crowd psychology some terms started around 1980s lots of awful things happening in soccer internationally mob psychology violence in the stands etc crowd a gathering of people without a common goal and gathered together for a common purpose Such as a sporting event any type of entertainment venue Does not have leadership Usually ruled by reason Mob collection of people assembled for an unlawful people intending to do damage or injury to anyone who gets in their way Does have a common goal or intent to do some damage Has leadership Ruled by emotion o formation of a mob a crowd can turn into a mob if they re irritated by incidents at an event aroused by negative rumors inflamed by agitators can be aroused by alcohol These things come together and form a mob Rioters mostly young single men on the margins of society uneducated unemployed antisocial spontaneous nature are willing to take risks not the kind of guy you take home to mom o put in a situation where they re agitated or irritated with events mob forms and they act out A key factor in fan violence is frustration verbal abuse in the form of obscene remarks a lot of taunting vent their hatred about a person on the field who might have been mistreated or injured throw objects criticize people in charge of event What causes others to support disorderly behavior most people have no intentions of being involved in disorderly behavior but once it happens it kind of becomes infectious Emotions take over common sense and good judgment May have possibly been partaking in adult beverages This all started because of soccer Its their COUNTRY The passion that these countries have for their soccer they take it very very seriously hooligan a young ruffian a member of a street game usually rowdy vandalism they go to incite trouble at these soccer events Generate problems at these events The media comes on and says there s not enough tickets for everyone people mostly stand at these events Developed on tiers The walls around the stadium aren t that stable people stampede these stadiums The push and push and people get knocked down and trampled companies train ushers to go into these stadiums and their whole job is to deal with mobs and crowd violence the media can get people so riled up Media reports negative parts so people get agitated work themselves up into a frenzy Media hypes up the event Media reports a bunch of negative things a day a stalker goes to these events specifically to stalk some of the players They become attached to a player and damage can occur because of the stalker self conscious lack self esteem come from abusive families unmarried work typical jobs stalking is the only way they can experience intimacy choose people they look up to who are in the lime light anything can happen when these stalkers are involved power tripper fan overly identifies with team live and die with team Someone who feels responsible that they can make a difference in the outcome of the team 12th man in soccer 6th man in basketball very involved in game itself
