Ch 10 Axial Muscles 11 02 2010 19 14 00 Table 9 2 Muscle Terminology Don t memorize but use that table as a reference Lever and Pulleys not on outline and didn t talk about don t need to know Starting at 2 45 Q A for muscles otherwise 3 30 Muscles of the Pharynx Constrictorso Work together o Vagus nerve o Median raphe is the insertion and external occipital tuberance Anterior neck Sternocleidomastiod o Starts at sternum and clavicle origin o Ends at the mastoid insertions o Innervated by assessory muscle o Contract on one side to move opposite way o Contract both to flex head and neck Hyoid muscles o Supra above Stylo thyro mylo Elevate the hyoid Innverated by cervical spinal nerves Normally insertion moves Cranial Nerves and Muscles know them The back muscles superficial o Trapezuis muscle Fibers come in from the back Move the scapula and part of the pectoral girdle Assesory nerve with sternocleidomastiod o Latissimi dorsi Thick fascia comes off spine lumbo something fascia Starts at sacrum Inserts at interal medial crest of the humerus Thor something nerve Deep adjusts vertebral column head neck and ribs o Innervated by spinal nerves o Erector spinae muscles Spinalis longissimus illiocoastalis medial to lateral Innervated by spinal nerves depending on place on vertebrae Posterior aspect of the neck Splenius muscle o Means band aid o Works with sternocleidomastiod o Cervical spinous process origin o Insertion mastoid process and superior cervical vertebrae o Deep to trapezius o Contract one side and move head to the same side o If contract both extends neck and head opp of sternocleiomastiod Oblique muscles Scalene Respiration but elevating ribs assessory Anterior middle and posterior Insert onto ribs I and mid onto 1 post on the 2nd Inneverated by cervical spinal nerves Origin of transverse processes of cervical vertebrae Intercostal muscles o In between ribs on both sides o Go from above to below and pull up the rib below it inspiration o Different muscle fibers depress ribs expiration o Have both Diaphragm most important in respiration o Separate thoracic cavity from abdominopelvic cavitiy o Central tendon o When contracts increase the diameter of the thoracic cavity and compressing the contents of the abdominal cavity o Cervical spinal 3 4 and 5 keep the diaphragm alive o Fronec nerve Oblique and Rectus Muscles Tendonis inscription in between abs Rotate the vertebral column Compress the contents of the abdomen Thoracic and lumbar spinal nerve innveration External internal and transverse obliques Pelvis Perineal Deep and inferior but can be seen superiorly too At illiosacral joint o o o o o Control anus and uretha Urogential triangle urethra and vagina in females Anal triangle anus Pelvic diaphragm o Levator ani 2 muscles o Coccygeus 1 muscles o Throughout urogential triangle and anal triangle o Deepest at pelvis outlet o Keeps contents in the pelvis Urogenital diaphragm 11 02 2010 19 14 00 11 02 2010 19 14 00
