Week 3 DQ3 Commercial radio became the norm in the United States whereas many other countries adopted a government owned model used for education entertainment and culture How would America be different today if the U S government owned and operated radio Commercial radio has participated and to an amount still have an important role in the American people both economically and traditionally A situation where the government would control the radio and be the only source of material would be against American values The United States boasts itself on its commercial nature and that capitalism drives competition which in turn drives advancement Famous radio programs today are very diverse which includes music talk and sports When one unit manipulates a communication media such as the radio it loses its credibility and functionality It will be controlled by different parties like the liberal or conservative whoever has majority power at the time it is controlled by the government It is unacceptable in our society today Imagining United States as being unusual is difficult Would it be like North Korea who manipulates every media My answer is in the negative but some of the standards we are proud about would no longer come into existence NPR is a member which is maintained and funded publicly to an extent Commercial radio is being supported by companies who buy their airtime to sell their goods Commercially programming is improved as a means to convince listeners who in sequence take note to advertisements and acquire the products being promoted Similar to television NPR s subject matter is far more different than the commercial radio station which is typically very focused to country pop rock talk and sports
