Prenatal DevelopmentCurrent Lecture- Prenatal Development:o 3 months after conception, an ultrasound can look into the womb.o Ultrasound send ultra-high sound waves in order to create pictures and visuals.o Inside the womb the fetus lives in fluid.o The first scan establish the due date, versus using the mother’s last period.o The scan can also show first, but not conclusive, diagnosis for genetic disorders.o Multiple births run in families, if in your mother’s family there is a history of having non-identical twins then one is far more likely to have multiple births.o Signs of kicking and using their legs at 11 weeks in the womb can help the building blocks for walking later on in life.o In newborn this reflex can be seen when their feet are dangling above the ground.o All the organs of the baby have formed in a span of five weeks, and is only three inches long.o At 12 weeks there is a less likely of a chance of miscarriage, and they are less fragile.o Both boys and girls have the same genitals, and only a few weeks after starting the second trimester will the sex be determined.o Hands are developed before the feet because they are stronger sensory forms.o At four months the fetus makes a lot of intricate movements.o At 18 weeks the mother can become aware of the fetus’ movements.o Most fetus’ don’t open their eyes until 24 weeks, even though they can’t see if inhibits their blinking reflex.These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
