The WhoCurrent Lecture British Blues Revival- Eric Claptono Clapton came out of the Blues Revival in Britain.o He was a part of the yardbirds for a time during his early years. They played straight blues. They changed their sound to be a part of the British Invasion. Clapton was a blues purist and quit the band.o He then joins the Blues Breakers.o Then, he makes his own band, Cream. Cream was considered an early power trio consisting of electric guitar, bass, and drums. They covered “Crossroad Blues” and changed it to “Crossroads.” Their music was blues based rock.o Eric Clapton played with Blind Faith, which was a British rock supergroup. Blind Faith consisted of Clapton, Ginger Baker, Ric Grech, and Steve Winwood. One of their songs was “Can’t Find My Way Home.”o Eric Clapton made an album called Me and Mr. Johnson with Robert Johnson songs.o Gerry and the Pacemakers achieved some success in the U.S. but not much.- The Whoo They gained American success by the end of the 1970’s. o The Who were known as the High Numbers for a short period of time.
