Grade: Informal proposal, Gantt Chart & oral 10% gradeAssignment: You work at EnvironSJ, an environmental technology consulting company in San Jose, California. You may define the company any way you want (large or small, local or national, family-owned or corporate-owned, young (for example, two-years old) or mature (30-years of experience), specialized (e.g. high-tech waste) or general, etc.). You may define your position too (e.g., owner, President, Vice President of Technology, Director of Environmental Projects); be creative! You may even model EnvironSJ on a company you currently work for or have worked for in the past.Your assignment is to write a formal proposal (to a funding agency or to a client) on an environmentally related topic. You will need to research the topic and present a convincing and persuasive proposal. Your proposal may recommend the implementation of an environmental process for use in production, the purchase of a product for use by your client, the design of a product for future sales, the sale of this product to clients or another company, etc. You may describe a problem and present a solution, or you may recommend that your client take advantage of an opportunity. Whatever path you choose, you need to establish the need for your recommendation and present clear steps for implementing your idea. NOTE: This is not a research paper. A group of 3 to 4 people will be responsible for a particular proposal.Guidelines for Informal Planning Proposal and Gantt Chart: Your planning proposal should be a memo on letterhead to Thalia Anagnos (you can design any type of letterhead you like but don’t spend a lot of time on it). It should include:- Purpose: the overall group topic, who your ultimate audience is, and the individual parts that each member of the group will be preparingPage 1ENGR 100W Technical Proposal Assignment- S2009 Dr. Anagnos- A Gantt chart showing your planned activities for the final proposals with dates of completion.- A reference list with at least one reliable reference on each topic to be covered in the proposalThe memo should be at least two pages of text (single spaced), plus the Gantt chart and the references.Gantt ChartBuild a Gantt chart of you planned activities for the final proposal. The Gantt chart must give actual dates (not week 1, 2, 3, ... instead April 15, April 20 etc.). The chart must have a title at the top and contain at least eight activities listed in a parallel format (Find, Research, Develop, Write, Submit, etc.). Examples of Gantt are found at http://www.ganttchart.com/Examples.html. You may use: the Baseline Gantt Example, Summary Gantt Example or the more sophisticated Dependencies Example. If you have access to Project Manager or other software, that is also acceptable. You may hand draw the Gantt chart or use Excel or the table feature of Word to build your Gantt chart. There are some free online utilities too.Brief oral Presentation on April 15The oral presentation will be informal to discuss the planning, delegation, and organization of theMay 6 formal proposal. Each member must speak.Guidelines for Formal Environmental Proposal- Formal report aimed at your client (a CEO of a high-tech company, a mayor, governor, a small start up company, etc.)- well researched (citing at least 2-4 references per person including two or more sources obtained through library research including electronic databases), - convincing and persuasive, - approximately 4 to 6 pages per person NOT INCLUDING VISUALS. (12 point font, 1-inch margins. double spaced). Pages must be numbered.- At least one visual per person (chart, table, photo, drawing, etc.) with proper labling and citation.More detail on the specific sections of a formal proposal to come in a separate handout.Guidelines for Formal Oral Presentation: 1.
