ENGR 100W LAB ASSIGNMENT Dr. Thalia AnagnosSJSU FD&O (San José State University Facilities, Development & Operations). (2010, November 4). King Lighting and MBCx. Retrieved from http://www.sjsu.org/fdo/energy/sustainability/lighting/KingLightMBCx/.ENGR 100W LAB ASSIGNMENT Dr. Thalia AnagnosObjectives of Assignment:- Summarize the findings from multiple sources- Use facts and data to support a claim- Write paragraphs that each develop an idea and use a topic sentence to introduce that idea. Background: The San José State University King Library is currently preparing an application for LEEDGold certification. While the library was designed and constructed to LEED Silver standards, it was nevercertified. On November 3, Carol Beebe, Project Manager SJSU Facilities, Operations, and Development, summarized the many programs and modifications the library has implemented to increase the number of points that it can earn. Because of the university’s efforts to evaluate and modify the lighting in the stacks, SJSU earned the CSUEnergy Efficiency Award in May 2010 (SJSU FD&O, 2010). You can read more about efforts to obtain LEED Gold certification at www.sjsu.org/fdo/energy/sustainability/king_lib_leed/. On this site you will also find the spreadsheet that Ms. Beebe and her team are using to identify and track the LEED points.Assignment: You have been asked to write a preliminary recommendation report to Carol Beebe, on ways the Engineering Building could gain LEED points in an upcoming audit. Write a memo to her that describes AT LEAST TWO modifications or programs that could gain LEED points for the Engineering Building. Identify which of the six credit areas that each of your recommendations fall into. Memos that describe two or three innovative or practical ideas in detail will be much more useful than memos that provide a list of obvious points that Ms. Beebe already knows about, such as the building existing in a dense urban area or the ability to use alternative transportation to commute to SJSU. I recommend you look at some of the programs that were implemented at the library and think about whether it is practical to implement them in the Engineering Building. Of course, as with all memos, you will want to start with the purpose of the memo and its scope.Guidelines: The assignment must be turned in at the end of this class period and a copy MUST BE TURNED INTO TURNITIN.COM. Complete the memo with 12 point Times Roman font, 1 and ½ line spacing, and 1- inch margins. 1. Write a memo from you to Carol Beebe recommending ways for the Engineering Building to gain LEED points.2. Number your pages.3. Cite references in APA style. 4. Include a “References” section at the end of your memo with properly formatted references.Proofread your document before you print it. Sign it next to your name in the memo heading and hand it.Grading:Introduction: memo purpose and scope, statement of issue 3Discussion of recommended programs and modifications 4Conclusions summarizing key recommendations and next steps 2References properly cited and plagiarism avoided 3Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation 3 Total 15 pointsPage 1ENGR 100W LAB ASSIGNMENT Dr. Thalia AnagnosReferencesSJSU FD&O (San José State University Facilities, Development & Operations).
