CS160, Spring 2005 Final Presentation & Poster Page 1 of 2 Final Project Presentation and Poster In this homework, you will present your project in two formats: an in-class PowerPoint presentation and a poster in a session during the last week of classes. Presentation The presentation should include two parts: 1. Show off your interface.  Briefly describe the intended use of the interface.  Briefly describe the intended user population.  Demonstrate a walkthrough of a representative task on your interface. The task chosen should a. be one of three the tasks you picked to support, and b. demonstrate the interaction style used in the interface (i.e., give enough steps to show how a person interacts with the system).  If there are any special parts of the interface design that you believe to be significant, be sure to include this. • For example, if you use an unusual widget or interaction style, show it to us. • This can also be a way to show off the best parts of your design. • Hint: sell us on how great your interface is. 2. Describe the changes you have made to your design throughout the semester.  Include changes made based on all the feedback you have received this semester (design review, testing with/without users, etc.).  For each problem identified and fixed, present the following: • Problem description • How you changed the interface to fix the problem • Identify design principles used to identify and/or fix the problem, if applicable. The entire presentation should be a maximum of 10 minutes. You may be asked questions after the presentation. We recommend practicing to ensure your presentation is the correct length and that your script is well-rehearsed. Poster Create a poster based on content from your final presentation slides. Present the poster during the poster session which will be held during the last week of classes (day, time, and location TBD). The poster session will last 90 minutes. At least one group member must be available during the entire poster session to stand by your poster and answer questions about your interface. The poster format should be appropriate for an effective poster presentation (e.g., do not simply print out your presentation slides on a large piece of paper). Look at posters on 5th floor of SodaCS160, Spring 2005 Final Presentation & Poster Page 2 of 2 for examples. There is no particular size requirement. Make the poster average poster size: big enough to do the job well. You must handle the production and printing of your poster. Grading You will be graded on the presentation and poster as follows: 3. Presentation: you will be graded on the presentation of your project, not your slides (i.e., what you say and how you say it). The slides are a tool to assist your presentation. We recommend you practice the oral presentation since this will determine your grade. 4. Poster: you will be graded on the poster content (i.e., effectively conveying the main points of your project in a poster format) and Q&A during the poster session (i.e., answering questions about your interface and user needs well). Deliverables There are 2 deliverables in this assignment (no supplemental write-ups required): 1. Slides for presentation o You should email your PowerPoint slides to cs160 at imail.EECS.Berkeley.EDU and tmatthew at cs.berkeley.edu, 24 hours prior to your scheduled presentation in class. o Include a cover slide with the project title and the names of the group members. o These slides should be the same as those used during your in-class presentation. 2. Poster board 5. There is no particular size requirement. Make the poster average poster size: big enough to do the job well. 6. Poster format should be appropriate for an effective poster presentation (e.g., do not simply print out your presentation slides on a large piece of paper). Look at posters on 5th floor of Soda for examples. 7. You must handle the production and printing of your
