Compute basic arithmetic operations with signed numbers.Note: This course does not meet the mathematics requirements for a degree from JCC.The Board of Trustees has determined that all JCC graduates should develop or enhance certain essential skills while enrolled in the college. ADO 3 – Computational skills and understanding appropriate to the program of study is the primary outcome of this course.Course Topics and Assignments:1. Please refer to your class calendar for timeline of topics covered, and all exams.Specific Recommendations for Learning and Success:1. Read your textbook.2. Work through the examples.3. Attend class regularly.4. Participate in class discussions and work.5. Do assignments on time.6. Form a study group with other students in the class.7. Seek out tutoring as needed. 8. The Center for Student Success has two social workers/counselors who help students with both academic and personal problems.Course Requirements and Grading System: ( 1,000 Total Possible Points)1. Exams – Five Exams at 120 points each. These exams total 600 points which will comprise 60% of your final grade. No notes or calculators are allowed. Tests will be cumulative with about 20% covering previous material and 80% covering new material.2. Final Exam – This exam will be worth 200 points and will comprise 20% of your final grade. No notes or calculators are allowed.3. Homework, quizzes, and Class Participation – These factors will be worth a total of 200 points and will comprise 20% of your final grade.Exams – If you miss an exam, contact me before the exam is given in class to make arrangements for a make-up. No more that one missed exam make-up is allowed for the semester(Instructor discretion applies). Please note that revisions to the class calendar may be necessary because of unforeseen circumstances.
