Georgiao A missionary, thrown in prison by Georgia, made a case for the Cherokee and wono Cherokee were supposed to be given lando Jackson disregarded- Treaty of New Echotao An unofficial, treaty signed by some members of the leading Cherokee members(Ridge’s other leaders)o About 2000 went west, rest stayedo Would lead to Major and John Ridge’s murder- Trail of Tears (1838-1839)o Forced removal of the Indians by both official and unofficial individuals (the ones who had left)o Goods takeno ¼ die on the trek west (some also in pens) (4000)o terrible winter, not enough foodo people assembled in penso 850 milesAlaskan presentation- David Solomon, Gwich’in Nation- Kuchin
