It was founded in 1968 in Minneapolis to take direct action against police violence (Russell Means fighter, Dennis Banks was diplomat) (they occupied mount Rushmore for a time)- Sterilization- Tribal college, e.g. Navaho Community College--- This allowed people to receive a higher education without having to abandon the reservation - repatriation- Nat Amer Grave Protection and Repat Act--- Indians were denied religious freedom as the bones and artifacts of their relatives were related to their religion. Nativeactivism earned them the legal right to hold on to their stuff and get their ancestral bones if they can prove connection. The law was in 1990 (NAGPRA)- Rehnquist court (86-05, e.g. Oliphant v. Suquamish---- Energy Colonies- James Bay Energy Colonies large rivers have been diverted to create large river reservoirs. Enormous amounts of Energy are created. Inuit and Cree were living a normal life of fur trade till the government took their land without compensationor explanation. Indians have put back very hard and have received some legal settlements that get them money but also profit
