Workshop Day: Reflection on Social Media UseCurrent Lecture Social media is loosely expressed as the digital technologies that connect people or ideas. Types of social medias include:- Email- Discussion Boards/Web Forums- Chat Rooms- Blogs (such as The Huffington Post)- Microblogs (such as Tumblr or Twitter)Reflect on the types of social medias that you use. Within these social medias, create a log ofthe last few posts that have been made and discuss WHY you wanted to curate that moment.Possible benefits of social media include:- The 5 C’s (defined in Lecture 2)- “Agenda setting”: when topics are covered by media and then become major topics of discussion among the community- Share and distribute ideas more efficiently and effectively through instantposting and communication- More control and better access of the media that individuals want to view- Sharing has gone beyond primarily text posts: now include pictures, videos, etc.Possible drawbacks of social media include:These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
