What is Management? - Management: process of optimally utilizing human resources to achieve predetermined goals and objectives in the most efficient and effective way possible- Characteristics of management1. Teamwork- Management is an attitude and a philosophy- Management is a people job- Management is a very real desire to work with people and help them succeed- Good managers are hard to find because many managers don’t know the right approach or what to do- Five manager must haves1. Project management 2. Feedback 3. Delegate4. Motivate/engage5. Communicate- Peter Principle: employees tend to rise to their level of incompetence- Two types of management styles1.
