Reflection Narrative PaperGender identity and environment are more interlinked than they seem. Gender identity can havemultiple effects on the environment. I identify as a woman and I have different environementalvalues as compared to my male or non-binary counterparts.One aspect of life where I believe where I could make a difference has to do with fastfashion. It’s an up and coming trend where brands like Shein, H&M, Forever 21 ect, sell trendyclothes for cheaper prices. As a result of which, production costs are minimal, production isabundant and in turn quality is cheap. This encourages people to buy multiple poor quality piecesfrequently. This impacts the environment because a large amount of these clothes have a verysmall shelf life and end up in landfills. Besides this, the production also has harmful by-productswhich adversely affect the environment.Being a woman, menstruation is a common phenomena I go through monthly. Aneco-friendly way to go through that time of the month would be to use reusable menstrual cupsinstead of pads and tampons. This would reduce the constant menstrual waste as well as theby-products of the sanitary products producing factories.Companies that produce the makeup that men and women use frequently are often testedon animals. Multiple news reports have mentioned that makeup testing has been proven to beharmful on animals.
