Lauren KurtzProf. James SpinaBMGT360 – Section 0105October 15, 2012Dressed for SuccessTo best fit the needs of Ms. Julia Richter, it is necessary to evaluate several different options for recruiting and advertising on behalf of Dressed for Success and the open positions they are looking to fill in their new Fort Lauderdale store. One recruiting option for opening a new store would be to locally advertise with billboards or printed press. By posting the job opportunities in newspapers and on flyers in the area of the new store, they will attract foot traffic to their location as well as engage people from the community who are passing by. Printed press often receives the type of attention to encourage “word of mouth” advertising, which is essentially free of charge and highly effective.Another advertising strategy would be to reach out to all Dressed for Success employees from the other seven stores to see what connections they have in the Fort Lauderdale area. Recommendations from current company associates are a good start to getting names for potential employees. Because the current employees understand what the sales positions entail, they will be able to recommend people within their network that are capable of taking on this role. Finally, the Internet is a credible source to use as a means of advertising and recruiting. Not only can the position be posted on social media networks, but it can also be sent between many networks extremely quickly and with no additional fees. While using a headhunter may result in a more accurate array of potential candidates tofill the positions, it will certainly cost the company a much greater amount of money than using online resources to spread the word about the jobs. Because it is crucial for the addition of anew store to have a successful outcome, it will be important to use a local headhunter, at a reasonable price, to help find employees to fit the positions. The headhunter will be most crucial in finding a Store Manager. To ensure that diversity is valued and emphasized in the recruitment process, it is important to take applicants of all ages, races, ethnicities, and genders. There should be a zero discrimination policy within the company. Since there are six new positions to fill, including the Store Manager and five Sales Associates, it would be intelligent for the company to hire an array of employees as opposed to a group of people who are all similar in age, race, and gender.Opening a new branch to a company is a difficult but important process that must take several aspects into account. A solid, well-established company like Dressed for Success should find this task to be challenging but exciting. With an experienced headhunter and prior knowledge on their side, the new Fort Lauderdale store should come together nicely with an adequate, well trained and prepared
