Should gay rights be legal? This is a serious controversial social issue that many people have different opinions about. There are many different people in the world that would argue thatgay rights should not be allowed and there are other people who would argue that gay rights should be legal. Both sides had very different strong opinions. In this essay I will argue my side of this controversial social issue.First , it is important in order to understand what gay rights are to define it. Gay rights is when there is equal right and social rights for homosexuals. For many years their have been dif-ferent movements across the world to promote gay rights. People have marched in streets hold-ing signs to protest their or other people rights, others has protested in support groups to get theirmessage across to others. Gay rights involves anything from discriminating against same sex marriage, allowing gay or lesbian people to be who they are, and treating gay or lesbian people the same as other people are treated. I am a firm believer that gay, straight, lesbian, transgender, or bisexual people should have all have the same rights. I hate when people discriminate towards a person because of a per-sons sexual preference. For many years these people who are gay or lesbian have been tormentedbecause they are considered different for liking the same sex, but I don't think that is wrong. Per-sonally, I don't understand why they fall in love with their same gender but it is not for me to un-derstand. It is not for anyone to understand. Who are we to say what is right or what is wrong? Who are we to judge a person for who they love or what they do? We are not better than them neither are they better than us. For decades, this country that we live in has discriminated against people for many differ-ent reasons. One thing that some people can’t seem to want legal is gay rights. I have to say I am so happy that in some states like California. Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Del-aware, Illinois, and many others have recognized gay marriage. Marriage is such a secret thing. Many people have different views on it and how it should be. I think marriage should happen be-tween two people only when they are truly in love with each other. Marriage is not something that should be taken lightly. I think now in days people don't understand how serious marriage is and they feel just because they are in love with a person they should get married. That is not the case. Therefore, people still argue if gay rights be legal? Some people would argue no becauseit goes against tradition. Although I am a firm believer on tradition I don't feel like that gives a person the right to say it is ok for them to get married or not. If you are a religious person you would know that in Genesis which is in the Bible it states that marriage has been defined to be between a man and a woman. Another reason why some people would be against same sex mar-riage is because some people would feel like same sex couples marriage will further weaker the institution of marriage. Another problem some people would have with same sex marriage is thatit may lead to more children being raised in the same sex households. This could potentially be a problem because children will be raised by the same sex parents. I personally agree that this could be a issue because children need both a mother and a father in their life. Young girls who are raised without their father are more likely to have sex at an early age and this could possibly lead for them to become young mothers. Children who grow up without a mother are deprived ofthe emotional security that a mother can provided for them. These are two things that a young child needs in their life. If there are two people raising a child and they don't have a mother how are they going to get that love, affection, neutering from. Growing up with out a father in most ofmy life I can protest that this is something major that a child needs. There are moments in achilds like where you just wish you had a father their because he can teach you things a mother can’t.On the other hand I don't think it is right to discriminate against same sex marriage be-cause denying same sex couples the right to get marry is sending the message that it is acceptableto discriminate against them. I know it said in the Bible how marriage is supposed to be between a man and a women but who has the right to decided that. Personally I think it is wrong how some states done allow same sex marriage because it is just promoting other to discriminate, in-stead of accepting the couples. I also think same sex marriage will strengthen the country and oursociety. If we allow same sex marriage to happen it will bring people closer and they will start accepting others instead of discriminating against each other. In todays society I think we should send more positive messages to each other instead of negative. In conclusion, I believe that most people dream to live in a perfect world where they feel accepted by other or is allowed to do whatever they want. I know when I was a little girl I alwaysdreamed of having this perfect wedding and I am sure that there are people out there who are gayor a lesbian that dream of the same thing. Who gives us the right as Americans to say that this is not right? No one is perfect. No one can say what is right or what is wrong. I think we should learn to accept each other for who we are because it will help make this world we live in a better
