When I was in middle school I decided to join the pom pon squad. I wasn’t brand new to dancing because I danced ballot, tap, and jazz for six years prior. In eighth grademy mom suggested that I try out for cheerleading team again for the basketball season since I cheered for football season already, but I decided not to because I secretly was starting to missing dance. That same year Grand Blanc Middle School decided to bring the pom pon squad to the middle school level so I just knew it was my opportunity to try out. This is a picture of my middle school and I pick it because it is the first place I joinedthe pom pon squad at. During tryouts I wasn’t nerves at all. Learning the combinations of the dance moves came easy. The first year that I was on the pom pon team was great I met a lot of new friends. Since my first year on the pom pon squad was such a success I decidedto join when I got in high school. Never would I have thought that I would be on the team my freshmen and sophomore year. This is a picture of a dancer, it symbolizes the pom pon squad because the girl is doing a high kick with pom pons in her hands.Looking back on when I was on the pom pon squad I’m so glad I joined. Being apart of the team didn’t just teach me some cool dance moves or met some new peoplebut I also taught me responsibility, discipline, kindness, and a little more about myself asa person. When I was in high school as a team we would have to volunteer at the local soup kitchen, teach the younger grade girls some new dances, and even volunteer at the local restaurants in Grand Blanc who help and support the team threw out the sea-son. This is a picture of a soup kitchen sign. This picture demonstrates what the pom pon squad values because one thing it valued was compassion. As a team we had to goand help cook, clean, and serve the food which gave us a chance to think about other people and not always ourself. Being apart of a social group teaches you things that you can’tlearn by not getting involved. I think it also help defines apart of you. The reason why dance attracted me at first is because it gave me a chance to express myself. In this picture it is a person going from one puzzle piece to the other trying to get to success. Inmy opinion this picture represents my experience on the pom pon squad because, all thevalues and things I learned from being apart of the team I can take with me in life to help get me one step closer to
