Paula Newton English 102 David Pegram Action Research Paper Group projects are sometimes hard to do when you are in constant contact with the people in the group, but it is even harder when you are not allowed to have to much face to face interaction. Sometimes the reason why group projects don’t work is be-cause the members in the group might all have different ideas or if everyone doesn't pulltheir weight. On the other hand they do help build relationships with others and teaches people how to get along with each other. For our last writing assignment in English 102 we had to come up with a theme restaurant with four other people in the class. The catch to the assignment is that we were not allowed to meet up with the members in the group. In order the communicate we had to use technology, which has become a big part in todays society. When we firststarted this assignment we decided that it would be best that we all wrote down our email and phone numbers to better contact each other. When deciding what would be a good way to keep in contact each other we wanted to think of a fast and easy way. One thing that we all know is popular in todays society is cell phones. Almost everyone in the world has a cell phone. Along with having a cell phone text messaging has become very popular in todays society. Text messagingallows people to send quick messages to others in a fast amount of time. With that be-ing said we just knew one obvious way for us to keep in contact with each other was threw text messaging each other.Unfortunately, everyone in my group did not have a cell phone so we had to thinkof another way to stay in contact and we decided threw email. Staying connected threw email allowed everyone to share what they have came up with to everyone in the group.Everyone used their personal email at the beginning when we started the project, but once we actually started to put together the power point for our presentation everyone created a google dox account. Google dox allowed members in the group to edit the power point. Coming up with a theme restaurant is not hard to do. When I think of many theme restaurants instantly I think of Hard Rock Cafe, or even Rainforest Cafe, but coming up with a theme restaurant that could be successful is the challenging part. The things that make a theme restaurant successful is not only having a good creative theme but also good food. My group and I wanted to create a restaurant that was very family friendly and a place everyone would love, so instantly we thought of Disney Land.Disney Land is the place where you can go and be a kid. There is good food and rides for everyone. For the people who hasen’t had a chance to go the Disney we wanted to bring a little piece of Disney to them in our restaurant. With that being said thats why we incorporated some of the simple food Disney has in our menu, having our servers dress in disney costumes, and have characters walk around so the kids can take pictures with their favorite character. Putting together a group presentation is not always easy. Although me and my group members would email back and forth and stay mostly in contact threw texting each other it was still challenging at times to complete the presentation. I think the diffi-cult part was not being allowed to meet up with members in my group to see what theyhad complete or get their idea on somethings.
