FORE Engineering is proud to have gotten the opportunity to work on the Forest Park Golf Course All four members of FORE have gained immeasurable experience and satisfaction from working hard to meet your needs on this project This report should contain all information we have gathered that is relevant to the project We hope that is meets your expectations FORE Engineering identified several separate solutions to improve the drainage and general aspects of the course These can each be found in separate appendices at the end of the report and include surface drainage design subsurface drainage design wetland creation and Texas crossing replacement While any of these can be completed independently and to your discretion FORE Engineering put together a recommended 10 year plan to best improve the course This recommendation combines all of the alternatives and arranges them in such a manner that money can be saved and the benefits to the course can be realized most efficiently For a breakdown of this recommendation see section 5 of the report on page 12 The overall cost of our 10 year plan is 170 000 Again we thank you for the opportunity to work on the Forest Park Golf Course If there are any problems or questions you may have please feel free to contact anyone on the design team at any time Sincerely Danny Hunt Project Manager FORE Engineering Executive Summary The Forest Park Golf Course located in Brazil Indiana just south of downtown Brazil is a small 18 hole community golf course The golf course is built on primarily clay and silt soils with very low permeability and little to no slope Because of this the golf course has experienced problems with drainage The objective of this study is to improve drainage across the golf course as well as to increase safety playability and the aesthetic qualities of the course FORE Engineering has worked in four areas to create solutions to Forest Park s problems A series of four swales were designed to drain the majority of the northern problem areas on the course A subsurface drainage system was designed consisting of drainage tiles Retention structures were designed for the southern part of the course Both a wetland and pond were designed to improve aesthetics safety and water quality Texas crossing replacements were designed to cross the main drainage channel and replace the existing Texas crossings in order to improve aesthetics and safety In order to best meet the needs of the Forest Park Golf Course a combination of these solutions will need to be phased in over a large time period The most important problems will be corrected first The overall cost of the project is 170 000 but we will phase this over 10 years so that the annual cost is closer to 17 000 Year 1 Construct swale 4 replace crossings Total Cost 1 400 Year 2 Save money for future improvements Year 3 Construct swales 1 and 3 replace drain 2 replace crossings 51 420 Year 4 Save money for future improvements Year 5 Replace drains 8 and 9 Total Cost 17 385 Year 6 Save money for future improvements Year 7 Replace drains 20 and 23 Total Cost 11 500 Year 8 Save money for future improvements Year 9 Construct wetland
